SIMPLIFYING RADICALS WITH VARIABLES AND EXPONENTS

To simplify radicals with variables and exponents, we have to follow the steps given below.

Step 1 :

The numerical coefficient is other than 1, we have to decompose it as much as possible until we receive prime number. And express it as product of prime factors.

The variables with the power should be decomposed as much possible.

Step 2 :

Based on the index of the radical, if it

  • square root, for every two same terms which are multiplied, take one value out of the square root.
  • cube root, for every three same terms which are multiplied, take one value out of the cube root.
