Finding Missing Addends Solutions

1. Answer

= 8 + 8

= 8 + (2 + 6)

= (8 + 2) + 6

= 10 + 6

= 16

So, the missing addend is 16.

2. Answer

The nearest rounded value of 7 is 10.

To make 7 as 10, we add 3.

But the answer is 15.

Inorder to make 10 as 15, we have to add 5.

(3 + 5) + 7 = 15

8 + 7 = 15

So, the missing addend is 8.

3. Answer

The nearest rounded value of 9 is 10.

To make 9 as 10, we add 1.

But the answer is 15.

Inorder to make 10 as 15, we have to add 5.

9 + (1 + 5) = 15

9 + 6 = 15

So, the missing addend is 6.

4. Answer

= 7 + 4

= 7 + (2 + 2)

= (7 + 2) + 2

= 9 + 2

= 11

So, the missing addend is 11.

5. Answer

= 3 + 7

= 3 + (3 + 4)

= (3 + 3) + 4

= 6 + 4

= 10

So, the missing addend is 10.

6. Answer

The nearest rounded value of 7 is 10.

To make 7 as 10, we add 3.

But the answer is 14.

Inorder to make 10 as 14, we have to add 4.

7 + (3 + 4) = 14

7 + 7 = 14

So, the missing addend is 7.

7. Answer

The nearest rounded value of 6 is 10.

To make 6 as 10, we add 4.

But the answer is 13.

Inorder to make 10 as 13, we have to add 3.

(4 + 3) + 6 = 13

7 + 6 = 13

So, the missing addend is 7.

8. Answer

The nearest rounded value of 6 is 10.

To make 6 as 10, we add 4.

But the answer is 15.

Inorder to make 10 as 15, we have to add 5.

(4 + 5) + 6 = 15

9 + 6 = 15

So, the missing addend is 9.

9. Answer

The nearest rounded value of 9 is 10.

To make 9 as 10, we add 1.

But the answer is 12.

Inorder to make 10 as 12, we have to add 2.

9 + (1 + 2) = 12

9 + 3 = 12

So, the missing addend is 3.

10. Answer :

Number of marbles Walter has = 8

Lamont is giving some marbles to Walter.

Number of marble that Lamont = 17

8 + Number of marble from Lamont = 17

The nearest value of 8 is 10. To get 10, we have to add 2. But we need 17.

= 8 + (2 + 7)

= 8 + 9

= 17

So, Lamont gave 9 marble to Walter.

11. Answer :

Jamie picked some apples.

She picked 5 more apples.

Number of apples she has + 5 = number of apples she has now

Number of apples she has + 5 =12

(2 + 5) + 5 = 12

7 + 5 = 12

So, the number of apples she picked already 7.

12. Answer :

Total number of students = 24

Number of boys = 14

Number of girls + number of boys = 24

number of girls + 14 = 24

(* + 6) + 14 = 24

* + (6 + 14) = 24

(4+ 6) + 14 = 24

10 + 14 = 24

So, 10 girls are there in the class.

13. Answer :

Number of marigolds Lucile has = 4

Lola gave some marigolds.

Number of marigolds that Lucile has = 12

Number of marigolds she has already + number of marigolds gave by Lola = 12

4 + * = 12

4 + (6 + *) = 12

4 + (6 + 2) = 12

4 + 10 = 12

So, number of marigolds gave to Lucile is 10.
