CONVERTING HOURS INTO DECIMALS

1 hour consist of 60 minutes, that is

60 minute = 1 hour

Dividing by 60 on both sides

1 minute = 1/60 hour

For example, to find 10 minutes

10 minutes = 10 x (1/60)

= 1/6 hour

= 0.16 hours

Convert the hours into decimals.

Problem 1 :

3 hours 30 minutes

Solution :

60 minutes = 1 hour

1 minute = 160 hour30 minutes = 30 × 160= 12

= 0.5 hours

So, 3 hours and 30 minutes = 3 + 0.5

= 3.5 hours

Problem 2 :

2 hours 45 minutes

Solution :

60 minutes = 1 hour

1 minute = 160 hour45 minutes = 45 × 160= 34

= 0.75 hours

So, 2 hours and 45 minutes = 2 + 0.75

= 2.75 hours

Problem 3 :

5 hours 12 minutes

Solution :

60 minutes = 1 hour

1 minute = 160 hour12 minutes = 12 × 160= 15

= 0.2 hours

So, 5 hours and 12 minutes = 5 + 0.2

= 5.2 hours

Problem 4 :

1 hours 36 minutes

Solution :

60 minutes = 1 hour

1 minute = 160 hour36 minutes = 36 × 160= 35

= 0.6 hours

So, 1 hours and 36 minutes = 1 + 0.6

= 1.6 hours

Problem 5 :

7 hours 15 minutes

Solution :

60 minutes = 1 hour

1 minute = 160 hour15 minutes = 15 × 160= 14

= 0.25 hours

So, 7 hours and 15 minutes = 7 + 0.25

= 7.25 hours

Problem 6 :

4 hours 18 minutes

Solution :

60 minutes = 1 hour

1 minute = 160 hour18 minutes = 18 × 160= 310

= 0.3 hours

So, 4 hours and 18 minutes = 4 + 0.3

= 4.3 hours

Problem 7 :

9 hours 42 minutes

Solution :

60 minutes = 1 hour

1 minute = 160 hour42 minutes = 42 × 160= 710

= 0.7 hours

So, 9 hours and 42 minutes = 9 + 0.7

= 9.7 hours

Problem 8 :

8 hours 24 minutes

Solution :

60 minutes = 1 hour

1 minute = 160 hour24 minutes = 24 × 160= 25

= 0.4 hours

So, 8 hours and 24 minutes = 8 + 0.4

= 8.4 hours

Problem 9 :

6 hours 48 minutes

Solution :

60 minutes = 1 hour

1 minute = 160 hour48 minutes = 48 × 160= 45

= 0.8 hours

So, 6 hours and 48 minutes = 6 + 0.8

= 6.8 hours

Problem 10 :

4 hours 54 minutes

Solution :

60 minutes = 1 hour

1 minute = 160 hour54 minutes = 54 × 160= 910

= 0.9 hours

So, 4 hours and 54 minutes = 4 + 0.9

= 4.9 hours

Problem 11 :

5 hours 20 minutes

Solution :

60 minutes = 1 hour

1 minute = 160 hour20 minutes = 20 × 160= 13

= 0.33 hours

So, 5 hours and 20 minutes = 5 + 0.33

= 5.33 hours

Problem 12 :

7 hours 40 minutes

Solution :

60 minutes = 1 hour

1 minute = 160 hour40 minutes = 40 × 160= 23

= 0.667 hours

So, 7 hours and 40 minutes = 7 + 0.667

= 7.667 hours

Problem 13 :

8 hours 10 minutes

Solution :

60 minutes = 1 hour

1 minute = 160 hour10 minutes = 10 × 160= 16

= 0.1667 hours

So, 8 hours and 10 minutes = 8 + 0.1667

= 8.1667 hours

Problem 14 :

2 hours 27 minutes

Solution :

60 minutes = 1 hour

1 minute = 160 hour27 minutes = 27 × 160= 920

= 0.45 hours

So, 2 hours and 27 minutes = 2 + 0.45

= 2.45 hours

Problem 15 :

5 hours 9 minutes

Solution :

60 minutes = 1 hour

1 minute = 160 hour9 minutes = 9 × 160= 320

= 0.15 hours

So, 5 hours and 9 minutes = 5 + 0.15

= 5.15 hours
