Complete each table of values for the given values of x.

Problem 1 :

y = x + 3

Solution :

 put x = -1y = -1 + 3y = 2 put x = 0y = 0 + 3y = 3 put x = 1y = 1 + 3y = 4 put x = 2y = 2 + 3y = 5 put x = 3y = 3 + 3y = 6

So, the values of y is 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Problem 2 :

y = 3

Solution :

 x = -1y = 3 x = 0y = 3 x = 1y = 3 x = 2y = 3 x = 3y = 3

Problem 3 :

y = (1/2)x - 1

Solution :

 put x = -1y = (1/2) × -1 – 1= (-1/2) – 1= (-1 – 2)/2= -3/2 put x = 0  y = (1/2) × 0 – 1= -1 put x = 1y = (1/2) × 1 – 1= 1/2 – 1= (1 – 2)/2= -1/2 put x = 2y = (1/2) × 2 – 1= 2/2 – 1= (2 – 2)/2= 0 put x = 3y = (1/2) × 3 – 1= 3/2 – 1= (3 – 2)/2= 1/2

So, the values of y is -3/2, -1, -1/2, 0 and 1/2.

y = 2x - 4

 put x = -1y = 2(-1) – 4= -2 – 4= -6 put x = 0y = 2(0) – 4= 0 – 4= -4 put x = 1y = 2(1) – 4= 2 – 4= -2 put x = 2y = 2(2) – 4= 4 – 4= 0 put x = 3y = 2(3) – 4= 6 – 4= 2

So, the values of y is -6, -4, -2, 0 and 2.

Solution :

y = (-1/2)x

y = -2x + 1

Solution :

y = -2x + 1

So, the values of y is 3, 1, -1, -3 and -5.

y = x - 1

Solution :

y = x - 1

So, the values of y is -2, -1, 0, 1 and 2.

2x – y = 4

2x – y = 4

x = 7

Solution :

x = 7

For all values of y, we will get x as 7.

x + y = -1

Solution :

x + y = -1
