Solution :

Each small line is 100 ml.

1 liter = 1000 ml

Starting from 1000, 1100, 1200 and 1300 ml

So, the reading is 1300 ml.

Problem 4 :

Problem 5 :

Here is a table showing how many minutes four children took to get to school last week

6th-grade-math-questionq4.png

a. Who took over 40 minutes to get to school?

b. Which person has the shortest journey to school on any day?

c. On Thursday, what is the range of the times?

Solution :

a) Sara took over 40 minutes to get to school.

b) Ava took 11 minutes to get to school on Wednesday.

c) By observing the data horizontally on Thursday,

largest value = 26, smallest value = 12

Range = 26 - 12

= 14 minutes is the range.

Problem 9 :

The temperature in Inverness is 12 degrees lower than the temperature in London. The temperature in London is 5 degrees. What is the temperature in Inverness?

Solution :

Temperature in London = 5 degrees

Temperature in Inverness = 12 degree lower than London

= 5 - 12

= -7 degree

Problem 10 :

Find the areas of the following shapes

6th-grade-math-questionq8.png

Solution :

Since the given shape is trapezium, we can use the formula to find area of trapezium.

Let a and b be the parallel sides and h be the height of the shape.

a = 3, b = 6 and h = 3

Area of trapezium = (1/2) x h (a + b)

= (1/2) x 3 (3 + 6)

= (1/2) x 3 x 9

= 4.5 x 3

= 13.5 cm2
